Community members can learn about the exciting world of television production by becoming a member of the Cable 14 volunteer team. Volunteers should be 18 years of age and older. (If you are not yet 18, please contact your school guidance counsellor about applying for a co-op placement with Cable 14. Each semester Cable 14 accepts several high-school co-op students).

Cable 14 accepts production and on-air volunteers. However, on-air volunteer opportunities are limited, but if you'd like to host or be a panelist for a current program or suggest a new opportunity please submit a demo tape or a letter outlining your qualifications and hosting experience to the address below.

We interview production volunteer candidates twice a year, in January and June, although those applicants with prior television production experience may ask to be "fast-tracked" into the program for earlier acceptance. Prior experience in television production is not a prerequisite to join the team, but is definitely an asset and allows for you to start volunteering sooner. Otherwise, those accepted will receive training in technical areas.

Cable 14 volunteers take training for and may perform any or all of the following crew positions: studio or mobile camera operation, hand held camera operation, audio operation, computer graphics operation, switching, directing, floor directing and much more.

Persons wishing to join the volunteer team at Cable 14 should click here.
